Nominate a Greater Pittsburgh arts community member to serve as a Creative in Residence with the Black Transformative Arts Network! Nominate yourself or a creative person in your community. Read more below.

The Black Transformative Arts Network is a collaborative community of artists, educators, and culture workers who focus on supporting and connecting Black youth artists, teaching artists, and educators to build a transformative, creative community for Black children. In an effort to increase access and visibility to the people who serve the interests of children, we aim to engage five community-centered creatives in an ongoing development process known as the Creative Residencies.

This year-long project will engage emerging and developing artists in a professional learning community, creative learning experiences, network, visibility-raising opportunities, a practicum, and ongoing mentorship. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience or interest in teaching artistry, the ability to commit to monthly and quarterly check-ins and activities, and a willingness to cultivate liberated learning environments for Black children, youth, and families. BTAN Creatives in Residence will receive $1000 for their participation, plus additional paid opportunities.

Participation in the cohort will occur from October 2023- July 2024, with participants receiving a stipend for their participation. Nominees must be 18 years of age or older.

If you are interested in becoming a BTAN Creative in Residence or know anyone who might be perfect for this opportunity, please use this form to nominate them by September 22nd, 2023.
